2009 Ducati Monster 696

Ducatis tend to be more expensive to maintain than most bikes, but their unique personalities inspire a passionate following among enthusiasts. Entry level Monsters have long been a favorite of newbies, and the new 696 makes this naked Italian bike more attractive than ever

VMax Power Cruiser

The 2009 Star Motorcycles' VMax was unveiled in a cloud of smoking rubber Tuesday night, which was appropriate considering the many burnouts this 197.4-horsepower machine will inspire when it hits the market in October. Powered with four cylinders configured into a 65-degree V, the new VMax is also likely to flatten a few eyeballs -- not just from its 123 pound-feet of torque, but its brooding and masculine profile. The new VMax is black, but if it were green, it would be the Incredible Hulk of motorcycles. A 1,679 cc beast of a machine, it gulps air through the huge scoops protruding from its sides, then forces it down the engine's 16-valve throat and out the catalyzed, 4-1-2-4 titanium exhaust jutting from its haunches.
The VMax first came on the market in 1985. It's received only minor updates and color changes in the years since. But for 2009, Star has gone all out, outfitting the bike with fuel injection, anti-lock brakes and many of the same MotoGP-derived technologies it uses on its supersport models, i.e. a slipper clutch and computer-controlled throttle and intake systems to deliver power more responsively. The chassis has also been updated with an all-aluminum frame that uses the engine as a stressed member and jacked-up components that can handle some major thrashing, i.e. 52 mm titanium-coated fork tubes and 6-piston-caliper, 320 mm wave rotor brakes on the front.

Supercharged Buell XB12S Lightning by Lazareth

The last time we checked out Ludovic Lazareth’s site over in France was when he was showing off the Trirazuma. Our favorite French builder has been hard at work and this Supercharged Buell is the latest bike to roll out of his shop.
There aren’t a lot of details on his site but he took a Buell XB12S Lightning and added a blower from a Mini Cooper S, a unit he’s used before on other bikes. There’s just enough of a guard around the belt to keep your knee out of trouble. Then he added single sided front suspension, aluminum chassis modifications and new front bodywork around the headlights. The rearview mirror is impossibly small but that’s just being picky. Pretty interesting and just enough excess power to keep most anyone happy.

Ducati Super bike 1098 R

Super bike 1098 R is one of the latest addition to the Ducati family and this new super bike will be taking part in the world championship in 2008. The only thing kept in mind to produce this bike is developing a high performance machine. It has been ensured in this bike that the weight is much lighter and it is much faster then the previous super bikes. Till now the most powerful two cylinder super bike in the world is 1098 R. This super bike is a result of the combined technology of world Superbike and Ducati motoGP.

Tomahawk: The World’s fastest bike!

Well, there is a reason I did not go out of my way and call it the fastest two wheeler on turf and that is quite simple because it ain’t one. The Tomahawk is still a bike but it seems to have four wheels under it. To carry this super heavy weight among the bikes that is pretty much a requirement. But that does not take away an iota of style or sheer intimidating appearance that the Tomahawk carries. This is pretty much the “Iron Mike’ among the bikes and is designed to deliver that early second round knock out. That does not mean that there is nothing pretty about this machine.

Bike of the Moment Baby- Travmans 2006 M620

This is my first Ducati. It is a black 2006 620. I've been riding since 2001. I had some extra money after I bought my first house and bought a Harley. I still have and enjoy that bike which has been hopped up a bit. However, it is a heavy bike and is definitely a straight line hot-rod only. I needed a bike to satisfy my "fun in the twisties" urge. I liked the simple, beautiful and basic design of the air-cooled monsters so I bought the a low mileage 620 from someone local who had only put 800 miles on it.
The modifications I have made so far are fairly limited because I plan to eventually buy a S2R 1000 or maybe a S2R 1100 (when/if it comes out). I used the Competition Werkes tailchop kit. Very good quality. Expensive, but worth it. It is all stainless steel. I wish I hadn't waited so long to do the chop. In pictures it looks good, but in person it looks even better. The shorter rearend that aligns nicely with the exhausts is exactly the look I wanted.

Every time I think this bike needs more power I remind myself click down a gear & twist the throttle all the way. It is nice having a bike that I can use every bit of the throttle. I've ridden plenty of bikes where only half of the throttle needs to be used on regular rides.

Batman’s New Bike

Think US motorbikes and you think hogs, choppers and any number of metal beasts that scare children and make mothers want to lock up their daughters. The Asian and European approach is a little more streamlined – lighter, faster bikes that mirror their racing counterparts, but with very little soul or personality. In design terms they are worlds apart. But one US firm is hoping to modernise things radically. Victory Motorcycles has created the Vision 800 Concept which, for US bikes, is a real departure. An 800cc engine, long-wheelbase, 4-stroke, liquid cooled and aluminium frame but, just look at how they put it together. Batman eat your heart out. If the brutal looking tank from Batman Begins has a two-wheeled cousin then this is it. Via Gizmag

Moto Guzzi SP1300, Stelvio postponed

As reported earlier Moto Guzzi will concentrate on launching a sports bike next after efforts on the Norge tourer and Griso muscle bike. Moto Guzzi told me that they are testing a 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 litre engine destined for the new sports bike. Only one of the configurations will make it, but cubes will give the new bike more muscle and an advantage on the road. The bike will be fully faired and the styling will be a mixture between the Griso and Norge models. Pic: HvW
It is believed Moto Guzzi has been developing an adventure bike they intend to call Stelvio. Moto Guzzi told us this project has been postponed at least one year so no production ready adventure bike later this year at the EICMA show in Milan.

Jay (Pops) 04 Honda Shadow Aero

After growing up with dirt bikes I am now in the cruiser ranks. After a dare with my son we both now have bikes. His is more of a radical look when mine is (in his words) an old farts bike.

Honda Fireblade

The NEC Show in Birmingham is your first chance to see the latest bikes in the metal. It runs from November 22nd - December 3rd and you can see awesome kit like this 2008 Fireblade. This latest iteration of the 'Blade is simply staggering, with an estimated 185bhp and a top speed in excess of 180mph. And, being a Honda it's guaranteed to be the easiest superbike to ride, bar none. Expect to pay around £9000. You'll find Honda in Hall 1, Stand E20

New kawasaki 2008

The new 2008 Kawasaki Versys is a machine which lives in a hard to define sweet spot in the motorcycling cosmos. Is it a practical commuter? Long-legged urban attack vehicle? Sport bike? Light Tourer? The 649cc equivalent twin and the neutral handling and light steering chassis of the Ninja® 650R sport bike made the ideal starting point for this comfortable gridlock commando. A swoopy gull-wing swing arm, long-travel inverted 41mm fork, six-spoke superbike-inspired wheels, adjustable-height windscreen and a contented cockpit were mutual to create a motorcycle that just begs to be ridden wherever the roadway might lead

Roaring Toyz Custom Kawasaki ZX-14 Sportbike/Dragster

This page contains custom builder portfolios, and photographic archives showcasing an extensive assortment of custom motorcycles, show bikes, radical custom drag motorcycles, or stretched and slammed street rods.

Metric superbikes such as the Suzuki Hayabusa or Kawasaki Ninja are a popular canvas from which these builders create their stretched and slammed customs. Some builders opt for the stripped-down, anodized, minimalist approach, while others never saw a metal bit that didn't deserve a layer of chrome. Different stokes for different folks, but any way you choose it, audaciousness is the prime mover of this rapidly growing niche in the world of motorcycles

Custom Drag Bikes Sportbikes & Superbikes

Customized Sportbikes, Drag Bikes & Street Rods
This genre is difficult to categorize - part purpose-built metric dragster, part boulevard cruiser, part radical custom show bike, and a little Hip Hop style billet-bling thrown in for good measure.
