Harley-Davidson 2009


Harley-Davidson, the cult american bike manufacturer has launched two brand new bikes for 2009 alongwith revisions in the existing model range. The new VRSCF V-Rod muscle is based on the past VR series but has a new rear fender design, dual side exhasut pipes along with revised bodywork to accomodate the fat 240 mm rear tire. The second new model is a trike christened the Tri Glide, which comes with air suspension at the back and a new rear differential. With Tri Glide, H-D wants to capture the growing trend for these motorcycles in the USA.

Japanese 2-wheeler bike


Japanese 2-wheeler bike manufacturers like Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki and Kawasaki are planning to launch tonned-down versions of their international superbike models in the Indian Market. These bikes will come with smaller engines in the price range of Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh !!!
The superbikes that are being considered for such an overhaul are Yamaha YZF R1, Honda CBR 1000, Suzuki GSX R and the Kawasaki Ninja. These model will also involve a heavy usage of aluminum and rubber components. Features like twin disc brakes and wide tubeless tyres will not be available.
“There are some superbikes in our international line-up of motorcycles that can be fine-tuned for India,” said Naresh Rattan, divisional head (sales and marketing), Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India.
Suzuki Motorcycle India is also contemplating to launch the GSX R series during this year end with an Engince Capacity of around 250cc. This model could cost anywhere around Rs 1 lakh.
“We will launch two bikes before the end of the calendar year, of which one will be a mass-market premium model and the other a superbike,” said Atul Gupta, vice-president (sales and marketing), SMIPL. “The premium model will be a model which will be inspired by the GSX R range of superbikes,” he added.

Triumph Thunderbird


Triumph officially announced the much anticipated parallel twin-cylinder cruiser, to be called the Thunderbird, at the Global Dealer Conference in Birmingham, England.
The Thunderbird 2010 will feature a 1594 cc liquid cooled parallel engine which will be the largest parallel-Twin the company has yet built. It will come with a 6-speed transmission with belt drive. It will comprise of a tubular frame and dual front disc brakes. Power is expected to be more than 100 BHP

It is set to go on sale in 2010 and has been designed to compete with the best in the cruiser class.The bike is set to be equipped with a large number of accessories which will allow the rider to customize it according to individual taste. An ABS option will also be available. Pricing is expected to be in the range of $12,000 – $14,000 range.
